Emily D. Scroggs
Emily is a skilled and dedicated family law attorney whose practice is shaped by both professional excellence and deep personal understanding of the emotional complexities involved in domestic litigation. She provides strategic, compassionate advocacy for clients, navigating some of the most challenging transitions of their lives.
Emily earned her undergraduate and law degrees through LSU’s highly selective 3+3 program, receiving her B.A. in English in 2020 and her J.D. from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2022. During law school, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Pamela J. Baker of the 19th Judicial District Court in the Family Court for East Baton Rouge Parish, as well as for the Family Court judges of the 14th Judicial District Court in Calcasieu Parish. These clerkships provided Emily with rare, hands-on experience inside Louisiana’s family courts, honing her skills in legal research, litigation strategy, and judicial procedure.
Driven by a clear calling to family law, Emily earned her Louisiana law license in 2022 and began her legal career in private practice in her hometown of Lake Charles, where she quickly earned a reputation for her ability to handle high-stakes and emotionally complex cases. In 2023, she brought her growing expertise to New Orleans and has become a trusted and respected attorney statewide.
At Hoffman Nguyen & Kuehl, Emily represents clients in all areas of family law, including contested custody disputes, community property partitions, protective orders, and marital agreements. Known for her attention to detail, poise in court, and tireless advocacy, Emily provides every client with personalized, strategic counsel rooted in both empathy and excellence.
Outside of the courtroom, Emily is an endurance athlete who competes in Ironman triathlons across the country. She also enjoys hiking and reading contemporary fiction to unwind.
