Kim Ngan Nguyen
Kim Ngan Nguyen is a founding member of Hoffman Nguyen & Kuehl. She is a seasoned general civil litigator and top rated Family and Domestic law attorney. Kim brings a high level of expertise and experience to all of her cases. She practices in all areas of family law, including counseling clients considering pre- and postnuptial agreements, highly contentious child custody cases, support actions, complex property disputes, and dissolution of business entities related to divorce. Her experience and acumen in interpreting and applying the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) and the Hague Convention On the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (HCCAICA 1980) along with the relationships she has developed with attorneys in other states and countries provide her clients with a legal advantage in interstate and intrastate jurisdictional disputes, international child custody disputes, child abduction and relocation cases.
In addition to her work representing her clients, Kim is a frequent lecturer at Loyola University College of Law New Orleans and she also lectures on family law topics at continuing professional education seminars.
Kim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Orleans, her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Loyola University College of Law, and also attended the University of Vienna Law School, Vienna, Austria where she studied international law. She was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 2004.
Kim has received the distinct honor of being named a “Top Lawyer” by New Orleans Magazine in the area of Family Law in 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2020 and by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star from 2012 through 2018 and a Super Lawyer since 2019 and continues to maintain that distinction.
Kim is an appointed board member of the Federal Bar Association, New Orleans Chapter. She is a member of the American Bar Association and Louisiana State Bar Association. Kim currently serves as the chair of the Family Law section of the New Orleans Bar Association and she also serves as an appointed member of the Executive Committee of the A.P. Tureaud American Inns of Court. Further, she is on the Board of Directors of The Pro Bono Project and is also on the Board of Directors and a founding member of the Louisiana Asian Pacific American Bar Association, where she serves as Vice President of Community Relations. Kim is also a founding member of The Vietnamese American Bar Association.
Aside from her professional affiliations, Kim is a sustaining member of the Junior League of New Orleans and she also devotes time to serving her community by actively supporting non-profit organizations and causes dear to her heart, including, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Second Harvest Food Bank.
